Great Argentinian place in the middle of Transfer Co. Food Hall, Downtown Raleigh. I tried the Chicken, Pulled Pork, Beef, Spinach & Cheese and Guava & Cheese. You got to check in via Yelp to get 20% off your first order. I think I was the first one to use it since the friendly cashier didn’t know how to honor it, she ended up saying she’ll just give me the discount though she thought a QR code needed to be scanned. This place is one of many stalls within a building. The ambiance of the entire place was hip, trendy, lively on a Sunday noon. Ordered 5 kinds of empanadas to go: carne, Jamon y queso (ham and cheese), kale and mushroom, pollo (chicken) and Al limon (with lemon). You can pick to get chimichurri or habanero sauce, I got the former. I had to wait for 3 hours when I got back home to VA Beach before I could try these empanadas but boy, they were worth the long drive! Every flavor was delicious! Love the chimichurri sauce! Packaging for to go was in a box made of egg carton material, kept them warm!
My Argentinian husband wanted to try this place since one of our friends had mentioned how good the empanadas were. We got to meet and chat with Anabel, the owner. She was very kind and we tried a few of her recommendations. It was my birthday that day and my husband let me get one of their desserts "con membrillo". My husband got carne, jamón y queso, and cebolla con queso. I got pulled pork and col rizada y hongos. I loved how flaky the dough was and the flavors inside. The chimichurri sauce and habanero salsa was delicious as well. I highly recommend!
Great empanadas. The sweet beef and the guava and cream cheese both delicious. They also have Argentinian sweets called alfajores.
Located inside the Transfer Co Food Hall space, in the middle of the building. Easy to locate. Food is served warm and is quite tasty! I have tried a mushroom & greens (spinach or kale?) empanada and a cheesy chicken empanada. Friendly, quick counter service. Open bench seating in the hall so groups can share easily. Parking spots are available around the building, or street parking.
After grabbing dinner at Chhote's, my wife and I picked up a stash of empanadas for a late night snack at our hotel: beef, brisket and ham & cheese. It's tough to pick a favorite out of the three. I'd say it's neck and neck with the beef and ham & cheese, which I wasn't expecting to be as good as it was. The chimichurri sauce is magic, a perfect component to enhance the flavor.
(Located inside Transfer Co. Food Hall) Ordered the carne empanada + hot sauce. I made the mistake of only ordering one, just to try it out…don’t be like me, order a few! Super friendly staff and delicious food! Already seasoned beef, but the hot sauce took it to another level. Absolutely must try!
